Gabriel Domont was born on 16 April 1959 at Porrentruy, in the Swiss Jura, where he also went to school. He gained the Swiss diplôme de maturité higher school-leaving certificate in 1978, and went on to study philology (French, German and musicology) at the University of Geneva, financing his studies by teaching German part-time at secondary level. After graduating with a Master of Arts degree in 1984, he became a lecturer in French and translation studies at Trinity College, University of Cambridge (UK), between 1984 and 1986. Between 1987 and 1990, Gabriel Domont devoted himself to translating from German and English into French, at the Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd (Swiss Re) and on a freelance basis. In 1991 he gained a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Geneva, before fulfilling a variety of roles in both general management and marketing management in the private and public sectors between 1992 and 2001. From 2002 to 2004, he served as an economic advisor to CEDEC (Centre Européen d’Evolution Economique), before founding
G. DOMONT – PUBLIC AFFAIRS & RELATIONS, which was entered in the Commercial Register on
10 June 2004.
